Syllabus

SIPBE have compiled syllabi to cover all major dance styles and singing. Each syllabus has been developed to provide comprehensive training in all aspects for those pursuing dance as a leisure activity, as well as those who wish to make dance their profession, either as a performer or dance teacher.

You will find that SIPBE follows the guidelines of all leading dance societies, therefore our standards are very high and comparable with other international dance societies.
The use of our syllabi enables our teachers to have the confidence to know that they are using correct teaching methods for all age groups and standards, progressively developing the candidates’ abilities and understanding, and utilising a particular emphasis on safe dance practice.

Examinations can be taken in all styles of dance, music and singing.

Childrens’ and young adults’ examinations are devised to give a sense of achievement as well as providing a strong technical foundation, an understanding musical interpretation and improved co-ordination.

Professional teachers examinations
To obtain your teachers’ licenciate, you must sit a Professional teaching examination. You may also add to any of your existing qualifications in the same way.  We have also designed special awards for the Professional dancers that will help maintain and improve the standard of their dancing.

All members are entitled to enter candidates for examinations, in the branch or branches in which they are qualified.  Examinations are conducted in the individual teacher’s studio, or may be taken at one of our special open sessions which are held in our various centres.  We have centres in Alicante, (Calpe, Novelda), Girona, Barcelona, Malaga and Tenerife.  Teachers wishing to enter candidates in any of these centres should apply to
head office for dates, etc.

Details of Exams

Details of all these examinations are set out in our syllabi which can be obtained from head office.

All our examiners hold a Fellowship Professional Qualification in the branches in which they examine and have been approved by our examinations board.

Our syllabi are reviewed regularly by our various committees and our examinations board to make sure that we maintain the high standard that has become expected of us.

Please note that while International Standard, Latin and Theatre styles have relatively consistent syllabi worldwide, syllabus lists can differ significantly depending on the organisation or society that provide them.
